Hydroquinone 4% cream

What Hydroquinone is used for:

Hydroquinone is used topically to lighten areas of the skin that have become darker (hyperpigmentation) due to freckles, melasma (brown patches on the skin), acne scars or age spots.

Do not use Hydroquinone:

•tIf you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.

Warnings and precautions:

•tTalk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before using this medicine.

•tTell your doctor if you have a sulfite allergy.

•tIt is important to use sunscreen while being treated with Hydroquinone. It can affect the efficacy of this medicine.

•tTest on a small areas of your skin before using on larger areas.

•tHydroquinone may produce a gradual blue-black darkening of the skin. If this occurs, stop using it and talk to your doctor. 

Possible side effects:

Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Side effects include:

•tAllergic skin reactions

•tRedness

•tStinging on the site of application

•tDryness

How to use Hydroquinone:

•tThis medicine is intended for adults and children 12 years and older.

•tThis medicine is for external use. Keep out of your mouth, nose, and eyes.

•tUse as indicated by your doctor.

•tWash your hands before and after use.

•tApply a thin layer twice daily, in the morning and at bedtime.

How to store Hydroquinone:

•tStore at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).

•tKeep this medicine out of reach of children.

•tDo not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

*Dosage form and route of administration of Hydroquinone 4% cream should be prescribed according to therapeutic indication and disease severity of each individual patient.
